Getting to know Jessica Lyrek

Hi there, I'm Jessica! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, seeing clients ages 5 and up. My approach I use different modalities depending on the issues we discuss. My methods range from Solution-Focused to Narrative therapy. I also incorporate family-based therapies as well as approaches geared toward individual work. My focus I do not shy away from clients with varying disorders. I treat people with anything from Anxiety to Dissociative Disorder, and Autism/Aspergers to marital issues. My communication style I strive to create a homey and warm environment. I maintain an even tone and am friendly and collaborative. My role is to help guide you on your journey toward finding solutions to what is bothering you. My journey to mental healthcare I am a married mother of three, with my youngest graduating high school. All of my children have varying degrees of ADHD, and they are adopted. I am familiar with the foster care system as both a foster parent and a current Guardian ad Litem. These experiences inspired me to learn more about mental health. I have always loved Psychology, which led me to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Wanting to do more, I pursued my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy to help people meet their personal goals. Everyone has a calling, and I believe this is mine. I love working with people and seeing them learn more about themselves. Hearing someone say, “I never thought about it that way” motivates me to continue this work. It’s about changing how we think, which changes behaviors. My goals for you At the start of therapy, we will set goals together and use smaller steps to help you achieve what you are looking for. I will not push you; I want you to take the time you need to get where you feel you need to be.
