Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Jessica! Hi! My name is Jess and I live in Southern California with my husband and our two children. I've been working in the Social Work realm since 2016 and have worked with adults, children, and families. I work primarily with women who are struggling in their relationships, with their self-esteem, or find themselves experiencing anxiety and/or depression. My approach I come from an eclectic therapeutic background and thus, sprinkle a little bit of different approaches in my sessions. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to therapy so it's very important for me to meet each client where they're at. Some of the most common approaches I utilize are Strengths-Based Perspective, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My focus I most typically work with women who are feeling "stuck" and need help navigating relationship issues, anxiety/depression, and issues related to identity/purpose. I also feel very passionate about working with postpartum mothers and helping them navigate their mental well-being alongside adjusting to motherhood. My communication style I always want you to feel safe with me- that's the most important thing. I want you to feel heard and validated, but challenged when you need to be. I believe that growth occurs most abundantly right outside of our comfort zone but we can only get to that space by having trust with one another. My journey to mental healthcare During college, I always knew I wanted to help people but I couldn't figure out exactly what I wanted that to look like. During my Master of Social Work Program, I had the opportunity to intern with an agency that provided mental health and addiction counseling to individuals who were finishing their federal sentences and transitioning to life outside of the justice system. I absolutely loved the work I was able to do and after my internship was complete, I worked for that same organization for several years.
