Psychotherapist
CA
Investing in your mental health means finding a therapist who will be the right fit for you. Studies have shown that the most important factor in whether or not therapy will have positive outcomes is the strength of the therapeutic relationship. I have a tenet that I live by: “Be the kind of therapist you would want to see.” My adolescent struggles with my own mental health and working with some ROCK STAR therapists in my youth inform how I conduct myself as a licensed therapist. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University, which has further shaped my approach. The qualities of cultural humility, warmth, vulnerability, transparency, and genuineness guide me in my practice. I model these qualities during therapy sessions to encourage my clients to do the same. I create safe spaces of acceptance and non-judgment and teach clients how to do this for themselves using self-compassion and mindfulness techniques. We all need and deserve refuge from the constant bombardment of judgment surrounding us. I interweave evidence-based modalities of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) but do so with humor, realness, vibrance, and personality. If you want to see a robot for therapy, there are bots for that. With me, you will definitely be getting a person.
