If you are looking for someone trained in EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention, or more than just thinking about your thoughts, I might be right for you. While I offer traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also help many people who have done therapy before and need a different approach. I am a great listener but also have a pretty big bag of tricks for different ways to cope or approach issues differently. My clients tell me I am warm, gentle, and challenging of their thoughts. If you are considering therapy for your child, you will also have a partner in me and be part of their treatment-not left on the outside.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I an attachment based trauma therapist. I believe in people's ability to heal and move on from patterns of intergenerational trauma. I have spent many years working in the foster and adoption community and have a deep respect for honoring healthy attachment with people who may not have had a safe caregiver to learn from. This helps me in both my work with adults and children with teaching people to create healthy attachment patterns and felt safety with others. I am a mom of four and love to support parents on their journey with a healthy dose of common sense and reminders to be gentle, this parenting gig is not easy! I love to work out, bake, garden and will encourage you to move forward in your own healing by committing to healthy things you are passionate about. My style is very flexible but grounded in making you feel comfortable and at ease within our relationship. I go at your pace but challenge you to take steps forward as you make progress. One of the things that my clients appreciate about me is that I've been around a long enough to time to see most everything and that means that they can tell me anything without fear of being judged. While I am very gentle I also tell the truth. Sometimes we all need someone who can help us realize when our actions are not matching our values or when our choices are making our life harder and not easier. If you are looking for someone who can help you see the patterns that are keeping you stuck my style is probably right for you. If your child is not much of a talker (except about Minecraft of course) I am play therapy trained, art therapy trained, and spent many years working with young children who weren't able to just talk about it. I include parents in treatment planning and often sessions so that you can support your child and be a part of their treatment.
