Getting to know Jesus Mendoza

Hola, my name is Jesus Mendoza, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master?s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I work with clients statewide via Telehealth. My goal is to provide a safe space to aid in one?s journey toward healing by learning safe coping skills, emotion regulation, and communication techniques. I emphasize finding one?s true authentic self. My approach My approach to my work is eclectic. I like getting to know the unique needs of my clients and using the approach that best addresses those needs. In my work, I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Dialectical Behavioral, and Mindfulness techniques. My focus I have found that my style works well with teens and adults who have past trauma, current stressors, or difficulty with certain life transitions. My communication style My style is calm with a soft tone of voice and approach. I want my clients to feel comfortable each and every session and have the ability to ask me any question or address me to ensure I interpret everything correctly. My journey to therapy I have always naturally been drawn to helping others. I have a history of volunteering in my community, and one of my first jobs was working at a summer camp for kids with autism and other developmental disabilities. That was the moment I automatically knew I wanted to do this professionally and become a therapist. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is first setting realistic, attainable goals. I pride myself on having a compassionate approach and working our way up. My first session with you Our first session together will be spent discussing how you have been feeling recently and what brings you to therapy. I will be asking questions to gather a better history and background of what is going on. The first session is also about building a connection and relationship together in order to flow and do the work needed in sessions to come.
