Joan Lanning, LPC

Joan Lanning, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
My career started with teaching child development, which was an important advantage in understanding how adults become adults. Family dynamics and relationship styles blend with the child’s personality to create unique, complex, and interesting characters. Life experiences and the environment in which these events take place provide endless combinations from which people learn to make decisions and shape their future. Unraveling the factors contributing to a need for therapy can be an interesting and productive adventure. My compassion for people and the desire to equip them to achieve higher life satisfaction is strengthened by a wealth of journeys with individuals. Those journeys have taken place in private practice, hospitals, corporations, and military bases. They have included Americans and other nationalities in the US, Europe, the Middle East, South Korea, and even the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The journeys have been filled with people who are traumatized, depressed, anxious, grieving, trying to make life adjustments, and struggling with relationships and communication issues. I hold a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University, which has deepened my understanding and approach to helping individuals and families navigate their challenges. It is always an honor to accompany those on the journey to seek solutions. The chance to make positive life changes should not be left unexplored!
