Jocelyn Akwenye, MSW

Psychotherapist
1404 W State Rd, Pleasant Grove, UT
Jocelyn Akwenye is a Certified Social Worker, with a Masters Degree from UVU and a Psychology degree from USU. Her passion for therapy is grounded in the belief that being culturally competent to her clients unique values, beliefs, and abilities is the number one priority. Jocelyn specializes in working with children, teens, young adults and their families, however, she is also passionate about supporting women's issues, LGBTQ+ communities, religious trauma and faith transitions and deconstructions, whether for yourself or that of a loved one. Drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities, Jocelyn tailors each session to meet her clients needs. Coming from a multi-racial and multi-cultural family, Jocelyn feels it is important to provide a safe and identify-affirming space where each client feels seen, heard and valued in their own authentic identity. Recognizing that growth and healing happens best within families and communities, Jocelyn integrates strengthening these relationships into therapy to create lasting and holistic change. When not working, Jocelyn enjoys playing and coaching a variety of sports, hiking and listening to music. She is passionate about advocating for anti-racism, diversity and inclusion within her community, and has been known to spend way too much money on books. She currently sees clients in person in Pleasant Grove and is available for telehealth.
