Psychotherapist
GA
Hi, my name is Jodi Spires. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University. For 25 years, I have worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with people dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and family issues. My approach My approach to counseling is eclectic rather than tied to one method. I believe people already possess the answers they seek; talking with a counselor provides clarity and reveals potential blind spots. My focus Though I work with clients of all ages, I prefer children around 9 or 10 years and up. I am comfortable working with clients from diverse racial, social, religious/spiritual backgrounds, and the LGBTQIA+ community. My communication style I'm a simple, laid-back person; what you see is what you get. Therapy can be vulnerable, and I want people to feel free to be themselves without fear of judgment. My journey to mental healthcare As a child, I wanted to be an archaeologist. I loved looking for artifacts and thinking about the story behind them. It was like putting a puzzle together; pieces fit to form a bigger image. I view counseling similarly—it’s mental and emotional archaeology. Each piece or time in life is part of the puzzle, not the complete picture. We choose how it impacts us; as a counselor, I help sort through the pieces. My goals for you Goals must be relevant to the client to be meaningful. My mission is to help clarify goals (if needed) and assist in addressing obstacles to reaching them. My first session with you In our first session, I gather relevant information and discuss your expectations and treatment goals. It’s a time for us to see if we’re a compatible match.
