John Breslin, LMFT 105601. My approach to therapy involves working with clients to understand what they are dealing with, their challenges, and the obstacles they need to overcome, while supporting them throughout their journey. As a behaviorist trained in CBT and DBT, I have worked many years in the mental health field with children, teens, adults, and families. I specialize in anger management and co-parenting. I have also had the opportunity to work with autistic children and their families in both in-home programs and school settings. Additionally, I provided therapy at several high schools as part of the Healthy Start program. I have worked at a level 14 residential treatment facility for boys and provided behavioral health services to patients in a psychiatric treatment facility. My approach Working from a behavioral perspective, my goal is to support clients as they reach a place where they can be successful, flourish, and build healthier habits toward establishing a better life. My focus I typically work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who face everyday struggles, mental health issues, and behavioral challenges. My communication style My communication style is upfront and honest. I aim to understand what you have been through and what you are currently experiencing. I ask questions, listen with empathy, and reflect and rephrase to fully grasp your situation and story so I can support you in the best way possible. My journey to therapy My journey began in my senior year of high school when I took a psychology course and enjoyed learning about different ideas, which inspired me to continue in that field. I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Social Work, followed by a master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, eventually becoming licensed.
