John Bryan, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm John! My name is John Bryan, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT #44869) based in Riverside, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, and pain management. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology to help clients move forward and feel better. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Pepperdine University, which has deeply informed my approach. My approach My approach depends on the client’s needs. I actively listen to their struggles and goals, coaching them to gain insight and find solutions. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strategies and Positive Psychology interventions to help clients make good choices. My focus Since 2001, I have counseled hundreds of clients and families. I have worked in hospitals, schools, private practice, and non-profits, and now do telehealth exclusively. In 23 years of therapy, I’ve learned the simple rule of putting the client first. We work as a team to meet their needs, and if I cannot help, I refer them to someone who can. My communication style I speak plainly and honestly with clients and families. I strive to sincerely understand their lives and help them approach their problems. Many struggles my clients face, I have dealt with myself, so I draw on personal experience and professional knowledge to communicate effectively. My journey to mental healthcare My journey began as a seminary student in the Catholic Church. After studying for seven years to become a priest, I left the seminary and pursued teaching high school and junior college. Counseling has always been an interest of mine.
