John Bucholtz, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm John! Increasingly, I have observed American families struggling in their daily personal lives with psycho-social-spiritual challenges. My perspective as a clinical social worker is one of empowering strengths that already exist in all of my clients. My focus My clients typically find themselves at a liminal/transitional space in their lives that may feel or be unhealthy and will almost always feel uncertain. From that space, my clients seek me as a trusted person to accompany them on their therapy journey towards health and peace. My approach I use specialized knowledge of social resources, human capabilities, and the role that unconscious motivation plays in determining emotions, thoughts, and actions. My goals for my clients is to help them achieve more adequate, satisfying, and productive social adjustments. My communication style I am genuinely curious about the subjective experience of my clients. I strive to understand that experience and foster self-awareness understanding among my clients of what happened contextually during their life journey up to this point in time. I am also non-judgmental and accepting of my client's experience. My journey to mental healthcare Completion of my graduate education at the University of Denver (MSW) and Smith College School for Social Work (PhD) was part of my calling to serve others. Social work theory, practice and ethics is concordant with my worldview of human beings as good and deserving and often adversely affected by social systems. My goals for you It is impossible to reach our shared goals as client and clinician if we don't understand your current and past struggles. I have found that understanding those struggles, the associated emotions and the personal meaning of those emotions helps us develop a collaborative plan to conclusively reach these goals.
