Hi there, I'm John! Life hasn't always been easy for me; however, even at 49, it was not too late to make serious changes and become more of the person I wanted to be. If life has been difficult for you, I understand that every person is unique, has a story, deserves to be listened to, and can change. You are more than you feel like you are. Rebuilding a person's vision for a better tomorrow is always a good step in the right direction. My approach In listening to a client's issues, I try to connect the associations, identify underlying needs, and adapt my approach to help with the most critical issues a client is experiencing. There are normally reasons for our hurt and pain. I find compassion is more effective than criticism, and understanding is more important than knowing; however, there are times for being direct and gently confrontive - hopefully after trust is established. Each client is an expert on their needs. I believe that I am an expert on the tools and processes of healing and change that have worked in the past and that have recently evolved in the present. We are all still learning and growing. I have lived the quote: "It is never too late to be the person you really want to be". With some tools, support, and some redirection, you can be more. My focus Many to most of my clients have had a difficult past, which is causing problems in the present. Sometimes our feelings get stuck in our difficult past. Sometimes we listen to those feelings instead of realizing our truths and strengths in the present. Updating our operating systems is a term I use to align the facts of the present with your feelings. Remembering our achievements in our past can help us realize that we are more than we feel like. Therapy sessions help the client realize their value and remove the blinders to potential, caused by our hurts. Regular weekly worksheets between sessions help to apply new tools to specific habit change, consistent growth, and support throughout the journey.
