“It was easy to speak with Dr. Zhang. He was engaging, asked thoughtful questions and was able to bring up items that I was not aware of. Speaking from a vulnerable place is not a familiar concept for me, but Dr. Zhang I was able to get there. ”

Getting to know Dr. John Zhang

Hello, I'm Dr. Zhang, PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Do you feel overwhelmed by life stress? Do you have difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or getting motivated? Depression and anxiety are common reactions to chronic or acute stress. It's important to take time and care for ourselves. I help clients understand their current difficulties and develop effective strategies and solutions. Seeking therapy can be a scary process. It's difficult to be vulnerable with a stranger. I believe clients should be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. I encourage you to reach out and begin the healing process.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our initial one to two sessions consist of assessment and thorough understanding of your concerns and goals. The majority of my clients show meaningful improvement after 6 to 12 sessions. For clients who need longer term therapeutic support, individualized treatment process and pragmatic goals will be developed collaboratively.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Makes genuine effort to understand patient, has a wholesome view of personality, good listener.
Felt like I wasn’t listened to when I explicitly outlined what I was trying to get help with. Was also requested to take tests and schedule more sessions before receiving actual therapy and help, which fundamentally felt scammy / wrong
