Jonathan Behler, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
I am Dr. Jonathan Behler, an NC, VA, and AL Licensed Mental Health Counselor and an ordained and licensed minister. I hold a PsyD from Northcentral University, a Ph.D. in Psychology, a Master's of Divinity in Theology, a Master's in Professional Counseling, and a BS in Political Science. My approach I am a compassionate therapist with a listening ear. I work with patients on their whole being—body, soul, and spirit. Together, we develop ways to address the problems and situations in their lives. I utilize a mixture of CBT, positive psychology, and faith-based integration for those who desire it. My focus I have experience working with patients facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, Tourette Syndrome, OCD, marital and family issues, clergy burnout, porn addiction, and numerous other mental health challenges. I have also worked extensively with military members and their families dealing with PTSD-related problems, as well as clergy members. My communication style I strive to be an empathetic and effective listener throughout the therapeutic process. Clients often say they feel comfortable working with me, supported and encouraged, knowing I have their best interests at heart. They describe me as caring, patient, kind, and compassionate. I aim to create an environment where clients feel safe sharing anything on their hearts and minds. My journey to therapy I truly care about people. Having been a pastor for several years, I witnessed how many were hurting and simply needed someone to listen. People opened up to me, and several suggested that if I ever left pastoring, I should become a counselor. After several years in ministry, I made that transition. Being a therapist motivates me because I often see people work through their struggles and become stronger, healthier individuals. My goals for you I begin by asking patients what they want to achieve through therapy.
