Hi, you can call me Gail, and I've been a licensed clinical psychologist for more than 30 years. If life and work have taught me anything, it's that, as long as we're here, there's more - more to learn, understand, handle, and share, our complex needs changing shape over time to fit our current life. The things that matter most to you - your challenges - are the things that make up the heart and soul of my work. Perhaps it's depression, loneliness, anxiety, grief, problem solving, trauma, life changes, or any combination thereof, bringing you here. If it's a concern to you, it's worth talking about.

What should a new client know about working with you?

While there are many ways to approach care in order to be effective, there are some really important basics that can make or break therapy. My belief is that these include the presence or the cultivation of a sense of safety, support, respect, and collaboration. My intention and goal is to foster those basics as much as possible in order to make the work of therapy also possible.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session is about sharing your concerns, worries, hopes, and goals, as well as any relevant information you feel might be related to those concerns. You're never required to share anything you're not comfortable or ready to disclose. This will also be your opportunity to get a sense of whether the therapeutic fit feels right for you - that matters, and it's no offense to anyone if it doesn't. Together, we'll discuss what therapy might look like moving forward and what tools might be helpful in reaching your goals.
