Hi there, I'm Joseph! Thank you for checking out my biography. My name is Joseph ?Keith? Brewton, and I am a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of clinical experience. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lee University. I believe in finding practical approaches to the problems you have or are currently encountering. I also believe that you deserve to be told the truth, not just what I think you want to hear to pacify or flatter you. It's important to move beyond the problematic thoughts or behaviors causing dysfunction in your life, your thoughts, or your relationships. Let's work together toward a better version of you! My approach I have always taken multiple therapeutic approaches to reach the same result: living a better life and becoming a better version of yourself. To accomplish this, I primarily work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy perspective, focusing on maladaptive thought processes that contribute to dysfunctional or unhealthy behaviors. I also value experiential therapy, which centers on how you feel about your experiences and why. Motivational interviewing is key to encouraging change, as is a Solution-Focused approach-both of which I incorporate into our work together. My focus It's difficult to narrow down just one type of client or issue I've worked with over the past 10 years in clinical therapy. As an Atlanta native, I am comfortable and familiar with working with a diverse clientele from varied backgrounds, with no limitations on the types of issues they face. For the past seven years, I have provided substance abuse and mental health therapy to federal inmates under the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and federal probationers. I have also worked full-time with Veterans Affairs, providing trauma therapy to combat Veterans struggling with PTSD.
