Hi there, I'm Joseph!
My experience includes working in the mental health field as a counselor, case manager, advocate, social worker, consultant, trainer, and therapist. I hold a Master's in Social Work from California State University, San Francisco. I value each person as an expert on their own life and strive to create a space where your unique knowledge, experience, values, goals, and autonomy are centered. I believe that a compassionate, safe, and strong relational connection is the foundation of providing a therapeutic space for clients to experience empowered growth and change.
My approach
I have a warm, compassionate, client-centered approach guided by humanistic, relational, and harm-reduction philosophies. I work within a trauma-informed framework, utilizing attachment theory and somatic experiencing to support the healing process.
My focus
People who are drawn to working with me often feel outside of the norm, stigmatized, have felt unwelcome in therapy, and/or are dealing with profound existential issues related to identity, relationships, trauma, and life transitions.
My communication style
In therapy sessions, I am warm, compassionate, conversational, and reflective. Therapy is a vulnerable process, and I strive to create a space that's comforting, respectful, and welcoming to all of life's experiences.
My goals for you
Together we will create a collaborative plan that centers your knowledge, autonomy, and values. Focus is given to the process of building self-awareness, healing, and self-compassion, developing goals that feel aligned with your unique experience.

A typical first session includes an informal assessment of your life, background, and reason for seeking therapy. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, for you to ask questions, and for me to share how I work with clients.

Joey is an outstanding human being which reflects in his work, and I feel that he is perfectly suited for for his career as a therapist. I have had an extremely difficult and complicated journey over the past year and Joey has been compassionate, encouraging and insightful, and has been a great help in guiding me to find my own answers, which I believe is the goal of therapy.
