I have been practicing for 20 years with all populations and ages, except children ages 0-5. I believe many people who seek help feel discouraged and unsure about how to resolve, change, or accept the challenges they face. **My approach** My approach is person-centered and eclectic, using different theories as appropriate to meet my clients’ goals. I have also spent several years using DBT in both group and individual sessions to help people develop healthier coping skills, including mindfulness techniques, and to break unhelpful behavior patterns. **My focus** Most of my clients have been in the moderate to severe range of mental health issues, reflecting the mental health system where I have worked for two decades. I cannot think of a population I wouldn’t feel comfortable treating, as my experience spans a wide and varied spectrum. **My communication style** I strive to create a warm, friendly, and accepting environment where clients feel safe and truly heard. **My journey to mental healthcare** I love being a therapist. My path began working with disabled students in a college setting and supporting those learning to live independently. Before becoming a therapist, strangers often approached me to share their problems, which showed me how important it is to have someone who listens. We all want to be heard and to share our worries, fears, and hopes without fear of judgment. **My goals for you** I focus on the goals each client wants to achieve, not what I think would be best for them.
