My primary goal in life is to help relieve suffering. Suffering can be the result of trauma, loss, relationships, addiction, and so many other things we humans experience. I get it! For the past 30 years, I have helped many people experience better mental health and a higher quality of life. My approach There is no one right way to treat a client. I have many tools in my toolbox. I have found that by listening to my clients' needs I am able to carefully craft an individualized treatment plan that we are both satisfied with. I am strength based, supportive, consistent and non-judgmental. My focus I have primarily worked with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, loss, and LGBTQ issues. I support my clients by being non-judgmental and building a trusting relationship. My communication style I am open and friendly, and I create a safe space for the client to open up about their issues. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a social worker for over 30 years. At age 19, I started my own therapy work with a wonderful LCSW. She was there for me through thick and thin and had a huge impact on my life. At 22 years of age, I was a new college graduate and I was offered a promotion by a large retail company. I went to a few trainings and knew immediately that wasn't my calling. I was meant to be a social worker. I applied to graduate school at USC and have never looked back. This career has been an absolute privilege. My goals for you I address goal setting early in treatment. I feel it is important to for the client to verbalize a clear understanding of what they hope to get from therapy. I regularly check in with the client on how they feel their progress is going and if their is something different they need from me. Once a client has achieved their goals, I develop a termination plan with the client.
