Getting to know Julia Smith

Hi! My name is Julia and I work with kids, teens, and young adults. With me, you gain a supportive partner in your journey to feel more confident, understood, and secure in yourself and the way you show up in the world. I encourage self-awareness/self-control, accountability, and the health of you and others, so you make decisions you're proud of and fulfilled in.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is attachment-based and humanistic, with an emphasis on building a strong, trusting relationship. I work collaboratively with you to better understand your emotions, relationships, and patterns while creating a space where you can show up authentically. I also incorporate CBT and ACT techniques to help you identify unhelpful thought patterns, build coping skills, and respond to difficult emotions with greater flexibility and self-compassion.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I want young people to feel comfortable and supported in the therapy process, especially when it’s their first time. Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or intimidating, so I focus on creating a relaxed, positive experience where clients feel heard and understood. My goal is to help therapy feel approachable and useful, not something to fear or avoid. I hope you leave sessions feeling more confident, supported, and open to using therapy as a resource throughout different stages of life.
