Psychotherapist

Sometimes the hardest part of therapy is not deciding you need support, but finding a therapist you trust to do serious work with. If you have already tried to manage things on your own, read the articles, had the conversations, and maybe even seen a therapist before, yet something still feels stuck, that is the kind of work I specialize in. I help adults understand the patterns that keep pulling them back to the same places, in their relationships, their sense of self, and the way they move through the world. My goal is to help you not just feel better, but become clearer about who you are and more deliberate about the life you are building. I bring more than 25 years of clinical experience, along with advanced training in two evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities: EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My practice serves adults navigating anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, recovery from narcissistic abuse, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside, managing careers, relationships, and responsibilities, while quietly carrying something that feels unresolved. They tend to be thoughtful and ready to do real work. What they often lack is a clear framework for understanding why certain patterns persist, and a skilled partner to help them move through it. Sessions are 50 minutes and conducted online, available to clients throughout Texas. If you are ready to explore whether we might be a good fit, the first step is simply a conversation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is integrative, meaning I draw on multiple evidence-based frameworks depending on what you need. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA. EMDR is one of the most extensively researched trauma therapies available. It helps the brain reprocess experiences that have remained stuck, reducing their emotional charge so the nervous system can return to a regulated baseline. Many clients find it moves them through experiences they have struggled to address through talk therapy alone. I am also trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems), Levels 1 and 2, through the IFS Institute. IFS understands the mind as made up of distinct parts, each with its own protective role. Many patterns that feel confusing or self-defeating make sense through this lens: a part that shuts down during conflict, a part that is relentlessly self-critical, a part that wants connection but keeps people at a distance. IFS works toward helping each part feel understood and strengthening your grounded core self. In practice, I rarely use one approach exclusively. Both are enhanced by the quality of the therapeutic relationship itself. How you feel in session, whether you feel safe, respected, and genuinely seen, is central to the work. My style is active and collaborative. I do not sit in silence waiting for you to arrive at insight on your own. I bring my clinical perspective into the conversation, offer observations, and adjust based on what helps you move. I also hold a realistic view of the process. Meaningful change takes time and involves some discomfort, and progress is rarely linear. What I offer is a steady, skilled presence throughout.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting therapy involves trust, and that trust is built over time rather than assumed. In our first few sessions, I focus on understanding your history, your current concerns, and what you are hoping to change. We will talk through what brought you in, what has and has not worked before, and what a meaningful outcome would look like for you. I will also be transparent about my clinical thinking, including what I observe and the frameworks I am working from. From there, sessions become more focused on the work itself. Depending on your needs, this may involve EMDR to reprocess specific experiences, IFS to explore the internal patterns shaping how you respond, or a blend of approaches alongside ongoing conversation. I pace the work to what feels manageable for you, and we revisit your goals regularly to make sure we are moving in a direction that matters to you. A typical session is 50 minutes and conducted online through a secure telehealth platform. Some sessions are reflective and conversational. Others are more structured, particularly when we are doing focused trauma processing. Not every session will feel productive in the moment, and that is a normal part of the process. My aim is to give you both a steady relationship and a clear framework for making sense of what you are experiencing, so that over time you can make grounded decisions from a centered place rather than from anxiety or old patterns.
