Julie Alvarado, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Julie! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. Over the past five years, I have provided therapy to individuals, including youth, young adults, and adults in need of support and guidance. My approach I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core treatment method due to its structured, hands-on approach to addressing unhelpful thought patterns. CBT allows therapist and client to actively work together on identifying and challenging thoughts that contribute to distress or negative behaviors. This method offers tangible, measurable progress as clients develop practical tools to manage emotions and reactions. My focus I work with a diverse range of clients but am particularly drawn to supporting children and youth navigating identity issues, ADHD, and difficult family or school environments. I have experience with individuals across the lifespan, including older adults, and have supported clients through acute crises and self-harm. I bring a compassionate and grounded presence and strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages feel seen and supported. My approach is client-centered, and I’m passionate about helping young people build resilience, understand themselves more deeply, and find healthy ways to cope and grow. My communication style I create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where clients feel empowered to express themselves openly and honestly. My approach is rooted in transparency, calmness, and genuine care, allowing for deep connection and growth. My journey to mental healthcare I began my academic journey majoring in business, focused on the traditional path of success. However, during that time, I experienced a mental health crisis that shifted everything. A required psychology course sparked my interest in mental health and ultimately led me to pursue therapy as a career.
