My mother worked as a secretary, bartender, receptionist, and hostess; she is now struggling with dementia. I fell in love with psychology in the 11th grade. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami. My first job in the field was at a substance abuse treatment program for women with children, where I worked for seven years. I met my husband in 1994, and we married in 2000. I began building my private practice after our first daughter was born in 2001. Our second daughter was born in 2003. I'm a Unitarian Universalist, an LGBTQ+ ally, and a nature-loving, tree-hugging animal lover.
