Psychotherapist
VA
I am accepting new clients! I believe, within each of us, lay the resources and strengths to tackle life's challenges. I am here to support you on your path of transformation, recognize you are the expert on your own life, and facilitate a deep dive into your capacity for change. I am genuinely committed to working by your side as we learn from one another! I will not pass judgment based on where you have been, currently are, or may be going. Practicing from a trauma-informed perspective challenges shame & guilt as they raise their ugly head along your journey of change. No matter what you choose to reveal to me, I will hold you in high regard – truly, I will. Kindly and compassionately I will stress your accountability in adjusting feelings, behaviors, and circumstances that may be limiting your sense of well-being. No matter what you reveal to me in session, please know my respect and positive regard for you will remain unchanged. Let us navigate challenges, uncover strengths, and foster the changes you want and need. I emphasize trauma-informed care and collaboration with every client. As a certified telementalhealth provider, with a unique skillset to bridge potential gaps in virtual service spaces, I will ensure your care is both effective and worthwhile as well. Your trust in and honesty with me are essential, and I appreciate the opportunity to accompany you on your trek. Julie Ebersole is a Virginia licensed Resident in Counseling working under the supervision of licensed practitioners Robin Usher (PhD, LPC) and Alana Chandler (LPC, ATR-BC).

What should a new client know about working with you?

My Qualifications: I am a Virginia-licensed Resident-In-Counseling with Glacier Health and Development Center. I have a master’s degree in professional counseling, as well as one in crisis and trauma counseling. I also have over 20 years of experience in providing counseling and therapeutic support, so I feel confident that we can find success working with one another. It is important to note that I am exclusively a virtual therapist and will facilitate every session online via the Zoom application. My Approach: I am, first and foremost, a person-centered clinician. This means I employ practices that focus on you and your experiences, needs, beliefs, and goals. I believe you are the expert on you; you may just need a little help uncovering this expertise. I also believe you have reached out for counseling because you are seeking change in your life; and I am here to support and learn with you, side-by-side, as you move forward and make these changes. I am not here to judge you in any way, but rather to create a supportive, safe environment for you to express yourself, learn, and grow. I intend to focus on the strengths you already possess, and how these can be cultivated to facilitate positive change. We can work towards concrete solutions together. Please remember, you are not the problem; the problem is the problem.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session will be 90 minutes long and will focus primarily on the gathering of your historical information. This information will help me gain perspective, be able to meet you where you are, and more accurately assess present challenges and determine future interventions. We will have just under an hour for each subsequent session. Please know that your sessions are truly yours, in that they are your time to talk about whatever you wish. It is important to note that whatever you discuss with me at any time will be kept completely confidential and between us as this is a crucial part of building trust in the counseling relationship. However, there are exceptions to this confidentiality: (1) If you were a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, I am mandated by federal and state law to report this information. (2) If I was ordered by a court of law to provide information from our sessions, I would have to comply. Before I would share anything from our sessions to a third party, we will have a discussion about what will be shared. Your safety and privacy are important to me and, I hope, to you as well. I am available for appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  I do not currently see clients on Tuesdays or Sundays.   If, for any reason, you wish to work with a different clinician or would prefer in-person counseling, I am more than willing to refer you to another very skilled and compassionate clinician within my agency, Glacier Health, who can better meet your needs –- no questions asked and absolutely no hard feelings.  I want to ensure your needs are met.
