Julie Flores, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage, and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. I work with clients ranging from adolescents to seniors, specializing in anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and life stage transitions. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help clients identify goals and make progress on their journey to feeling better. My therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual’s needs, recognizing that not everyone responds to the same methods. I typically begin with a Person-Centered Therapy approach to build trust, rapport, and understanding. Motivational Interviewing helps clients identify goals that are truly their own. Throughout sessions, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address difficulties and develop actionable steps toward healing. I have found this approach suits many age groups, including young adults, midlife adults, and seniors, especially as they face life transitions and stressors related to anxiety and depression. I also have experience working with individuals who have been in foster care, experienced trauma, or navigated the aftermath of divorce. My goal is to help clients dispel negative thoughts and behaviors, build a toolkit of coping skills, and foster a more positive outlook. My communication style is calm and non-judgmental, always leaving space for clients to be heard. As we work together, I become more reflective and use guided conversation to help clients apply skills and take action. My journey to mental healthcare began early, inspired by my work on a crisis hotline where I discovered my passion for listening and helping others improve challenging areas of their lives.
