Julie Zeff, LCSW

Psychotherapist
GA
Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. You may look like you’re holding everything together on the outside while inside you may feel anxious, stressed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. I help clients untangle what’s stuck beneath the surface so they feel more connected, grounded, steady and can trust themselves, even in the hardest moments. For over 25 years, I’ve worked with people navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions, grief, stress, self-doubt, parenting challenges, loss, and more. My approach is warm, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that therapy should be a safe place to land. Together, we gently explore the emotions, protective patterns, and different “parts” of you that may be carrying fear, pressure, shame, loneliness, overwhelm, or longing. I deeply believe people are more than their struggles. So, even if you forget, or when you can’t fully see, I hold your strength, resilience, wisdom, and capacity for growth. I specialize in helping thoughtful, insightful people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and create more connected, fulfilling lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me feels like a real conversation—it’s warm, collaborative, and active. I work to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and emotionally safe, while also helping you move toward meaningful change. I’m engaged in the process with you and will help you notice and understand patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck. Many clients describe our work as a place where they can finally exhale, slow down, and not have to hold everything together alone. I integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other relational approaches, always tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we look at both the emotions underneath what you’re experiencing and the different “parts” of you that show up. Rather than judging these parts, we work to understand them with curiosity and compassion while also strengthening the calmer, wiser parts of you. My role is not to “fix” you – as I don’t believe people are “broken”. Instead, I get the honor of walking alongside you as you make sense of your experiences and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you decide you’d like to work together and schedule your first session on Zocdoc — our Intake and Assessment Session — you’ll receive secure Client Portal access through SimplePractice to complete Intake and Consent Forms. I ask that you please complete and submit the forms before our first session. Otherwise, we will use part of our session time to complete them together before continuing with the intake and assessment process. Our initial session is a space for us to begin getting to know one another — understanding what’s bringing you to therapy, exploring your goals, and getting a sense of whether we feel like a good fit to work together. From there, we’ll spend time understanding what’s been feeling difficult, overwhelming, or stuck lately. We explore your current stressors, relationships, emotions, and patterns in a way that feels supportive and manageable. As we work together, I help you slow things down and notice the emotional patterns and cycles that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, self-doubt, conflict, or disconnection. Together, we begin to make sense of those patterns and cycles. Over time, therapy can help you access more self-compassion, emotional balance, clarity, and trust in yourself. Sessions often include reflection, emotional processing, practical tools, and learning new ways to respond to yourself and others with greater care and connection. My goal is for therapy to feel like a safe, grounded place where you feel deeply understood and can connect with your strengths, resilience, and capacity for lasting change.
