Psychotherapist
122 S Michigan Ave, Ste. 1441, Chicago, IL
Through depth therapy, I create space for self-discovery, integration, and healing that moves beyond coping and surface-level solutions. Psychoanalytic work can help you understand unconscious patterns, inner conflicts, and how life experiences influence your sense of self, perspective, and ways of being. Exploration is deep, wide-ranging, and open-ended, extending across all aspects and times of life. It proceeds from the idea that our symptoms and struggles stem from an unconscious logic, which we can learn to listen to and gradually untie — freeing ourselves to live in new ways that feel more aligned, resonant, and vital.

Getting to know Juliette Grantham

What should a new client know about working with you?

At the heart of my approach is the process of free association, which is speaking freely without filter. While this demands considerable courage and vulnerability, many come to find it exceptionally liberating, enjoyable, and even exciting, as they happen upon new aspects of themselves, unexpected shifts in perspective, and a deeper comfort in being as they are. I specialize in working with people navigating the lingering effects of childhood trauma, loss, and difficult family dynamics, as well as those searching for a deeper sense of identity, meaning, purpose, or joy, often after destabilizing experiences such as life transitions, the death of a loved one, trauma, divorce, breakups, infidelity, parenthood, and existential, spiritual, or religious questions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our struggles often stem from parts of ourselves we do not fully understand. I support clients in undertaking an open and curious inquiry into the deeper layers of their experience in ways that foster an organic process of self-discovery, acceptance, and change. To this end, I invite a curiosity about unconscious material, such as dreams, fantasies, allusions, and fleeting thoughts, as well as the patterns and impressions woven throughout life and lineage. My clinical work is grounded in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic talk therapy. I completed a two-year clinical fellowship in psychoanalytic theory and practice at Depth Counseling, where I continue to work with adults and teens both in-person and virtually. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Yale University and master's degree at the Institute for Clinical Social Work. If you are interested in pursuing this kind of work together, I’d be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact me via phone or email, or book a free consultation or initial session.
