Dr. Juliette Mcclendon, PhD

Psychotherapist
MA
I am a Black, queer, neurodivergent Clinical Psychologist. I specialize in working with adults with intersecting identities, whether that be race, queerness, gender nonconformance, and/or neurodivergence. My personal and professional experiences have given me insight into both the joy and devastation that comes with being a human with intersectional identities in an increasingly oppressive world. I use a culturally responsive approach, meaning that I take into account how your culture shapes your mental health experience. All cultures have different norms, traditions, and beliefs. I am here to respect your worldview and help you live in line with your values. We would be a good fit if you are experiencing the effects of trauma, anxiety, emotional sensitivity, or relationship problems.

Getting to know Dr. Juliette Mcclendon

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use science-backed methods like cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to support you in accepting what you can’t change, and changing what you can. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment for PTSD, for both individuals and couples. I approach sessions from a combination of structure and flexibility. We check in about what has happened during your week and continue to work towards treatment goals each session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In individual therapy, we start with a thorough intake appointment, where I learn more about your background and why you are seeking therapy. Then, we collaboratively develop specific treatment goals that we work toward through the rest of therapy. The individuals I see are often navigating high-pressure environments where their identity(ies) are not valued. My clients may be battling perfectionism and a feeling that they are “not good enough.” The couples I work with are most often queer and navigating polyamory/ENM. Together, we find ways you can question negative beliefs, manage difficult emotions, and communicate confidently.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $300 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $250 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront
