“Kai Davison" is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. I am a graduate-level clinical intern completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado. I am committed to supporting clients with authenticity, compassion, and curiosity in a safe, affirming space. I work with individual children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and queerness in all capacities. I am also interested in identity exploration, trauma, neurodivergence, disability, mood disorders, and polyamory/ethical nonmonogamy. When I am not in the therapy room you can find me making music of all kinds, putting together elaborate puzzles, getting lost in a cozy fantasy, or nurturing my many plants.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a narrative-driven, person-centered therapist who uses other modalities and interventions as needed through a trauma-informed and systemic lens. I take a curious, straightforward approach. I endeavor to challenge you without being harsh, critical, or judgmental. I believe that therapy should be inclusive and accessible for all.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When working with children in play therapy, I first meet with their guardians for an intake session where we discuss goals, history, and your reasons for seeking therapy for your child. After this initial session, I begin meeting with just the child for child-centered play therapy, meeting regularly to consult with their guardians throughout the therapeutic process. Similarly, my work with adolescents and adults begins with an intake session where we explore your goals, history, and reasons for seeking therapy. Following this initial intake, we will explore your emotions, experiences, and relationships, and collaborate on your unique therapeutic journey toward personal growth.
