Karee Wallach, MA

Psychotherapist
IL
I'm a warm, practical, intuitive, and curious therapist with over 20 years of experience working with all kinds of people in many settings, including agencies, primary care, schools, and private practice. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, which has deepened my understanding and approach to therapy. I've found that clients usually seek therapy with an urgency to make things better-to reduce the intensity, frequency, and duration of difficult emotions or experiences. Because of this, I typically take a two-tiered approach: we address current concerns while also establishing a deep foundation for longer-term healing and growth. I listen closely and remain flexible, pursuing what is helpful and leaving behind what isn't. Having become a therapist in my 30s, I had already lived the stress of service industry work, an ambitious career in advertising, and experienced several years of losses and challenges before training a therapeutic lens on it all. I believe my therapy work is stronger and more empathetic because of these life experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During your therapy sessions we'll collaborate to reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of your problems and concerns. Some of this work --and experience of change -- takes place during the therapy session, while other work and change occurs in between visits. Over time you can expect to feel some relief from the difficult symptoms you brought to therapy. This varies from client to client so it's impossible to be more specific before engaging in the therapy process.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
