My name is Karen Baumann, and I have practiced as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Temple University. I specialize in helping law enforcement, first responders, and healthcare providers, such as nurses and physicians, who experience trauma as part of their job duties. My other specialties include working with individuals facing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and substance abuse. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD. My focus is on providing a safe and comfortable space for individuals to openly share their thoughts and feelings using a cognitive-behavioral approach. I have worked with clients in a variety of clinical settings, including emergency rooms, community mental health, law enforcement mental health teams, mobile crisis teams, psychiatric inpatient units, and private practice. A significant portion of my career has been spent riding with the Los Angeles and Pasadena Police Officers, responding to mental health calls in the community. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges law enforcement and healthcare professionals face regarding their own mental health.
