Getting to know Karen Fischer

Hi there, I'm Karen. I am passionate about helping you heal and grow in relationship with yourself and others. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my bachelor's degree from Washington State University. My approach is to listen to you and respond in ways tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. I want to get to know you thoroughly and help you explore pathways to growth and healing. My approach I have many areas of specialized training and prefer to utilize evidence-based practices, including EMDR for trauma, cognitive approaches such as CBT and DBT to assist with emotional issues, and family-based treatment for adolescents struggling with eating disorders. I also specialize in couples counseling using Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I have completed externships with leaders in their fields and sought out training in these areas of focus. My focus Over the past 23 years, I have worked with both individuals and families. I have experience assisting military families and veterans returning from deployment who are experiencing reintegration problems and PTSD. I work with couples struggling with relationship problems that seem to re-experience familiar patterns of conflict and are searching for a path to reconnection. I also specialize in working with adolescents and their families struggling with eating disorders. My communication style I will initially meet and get to know you. I hope to develop a relationship of mutuality and trust. I feel that hope is crucial to healing and aim to inspire trust and community within a therapeutic relationship of healing and growth.
