Hello, I'm Karen, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Simmons College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Boise State University. My journey in the field of mental health has been diverse and enriching, allowing me to work with various populations and in different settings. I have extensive experience in private practice, providing individual therapy, and have also worked at the Department of Health and Welfare in the adult mental health division. My time at the Colorado Department of Corrections, where I spent three years providing care for the incarcerated population, has deeply influenced my understanding of trauma and resilience. I work PRN at UCHealth's Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, where I continue to support individuals in crisis. My current full time position is providing care to active duty people and their families. I travel from Colorado and Alaska, both of which I hold a license in. In my practice, I utilize a range of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, where we work together to identify your goals and develop strategies to achieve them. My aim is to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard and understood. I specialize in helping clients manage anger, anxiety, depression, and stress. I also provide support for family relationships, grief and bereavement, military and veteran issues, multicultural and diversity concerns, PTSD, and trauma. Whether you're dealing with a specific issue or just need someone to talk to, I'm here to help. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my dogs and watching movies. These activities help me recharge and bring balance to my life, which I believe is essential for providing the best care to my clients.
