Karen Griner, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I'm Karen, and I'm here to help support your journey to wellness. I hold a PhD in Counseling, and I am licensed in both Florida (LMHC) and Maryland (LCPC). I've worked with clients in counseling and have trained counseling graduate students for over 15 years. Early in my career, I specialized in helping clients work through interpersonal trauma, such as sexual abuse and physical abuse. Since then, I have widened my scope of practice to more general needs, such as anxiety and depression, but always with an awareness of trauma-informed practice when applicable. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I believe there is always room for hope and optimism, and that compassion, empathy, and understanding bring us greater fulfillment in our lives. My passion for travel and photography have taught me how a change of perspective can fundamentally change the way the world looks. Hope I can help YOU get a change of perspective!

What should a new client know about working with you?

The therapeutic relationship is paramount to making effective change in therapy; thus, the first session is most often comprised of getting to know clients and how I can best be of support. In subsequent sessions, while I may implement techniques and interventions based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Solution-Focused Therapy, I'm an insight-oriented professional, always hoping to help clients build insightful knowledge about their circumstances.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
