Getting to know Karen Strauss

Hi, I'm Karen Strauss, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I am passionate about providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families to foster personal growth and empowerment. I specialize in anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, and relationship work. My approach is collaborative, so together we can understand, explore, discuss, and challenge thoughts and feelings while creating meaningful goals. I am trained in CBT, psychodynamic theory, family systems, and hypnotherapy. I focus on exploring relationships—whether within a partnership or a client’s relationship to themselves and others in their lives, not necessarily romantic. Couples therapy is a passion of mine, as is supporting individuals navigating transitional periods. My goal is to help clients live deeply fulfilling lives and reach their full potential. How we achieve that depends on your unique background and individual needs. My communication style is realistic, authentic, and holistic, addressing each client’s biological, psychological, social, and spiritual characteristics. I am an active, engaged, client-centered therapist who honors your unique path. My own personal exploration of psychology sparked my passion for therapy. This journey helped me find compassion, understanding, resilience, strength, and empowerment, inspiring me to guide others toward their own paths to self-fulfillment. I believe in the strength of a safe, supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship as the foundation for identifying patterns, overcoming obstacles, gaining insight, healing, motivating change, growing, thriving, and moving through life in a meaningful, purposeful, and authentic way. I use an active, collaborative, and sometimes challenging approach as needed.
