Karissa Peoples is a LICSW with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Starting her career in advocacy and case management for assault and trafficking survivors, she has continued to strengthen her clinical skills working with adults both locally and abroad. Karissa obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Ohio State University and her Master of Clinical Social Work from Boston College. She utilizes interventions from cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to meet the needs of her clients. Life is full of ups, downs, and situations outside our control. Karissa believes that the job of a therapist is not to judge or "fix people," but to empower and encourage folks — to provide a safe space to work through challenges one may face.
