“She's very kind and patient. Her voice is very comforting and she explains coping techniques in a great way. She makes me feel like it's not something that's "wrong with me," it's just my mind and how I approach situations is different than others and there's nothing wrong with that. For someone like me who has struggled with anxiety their whole life, her approach is very comforting and extremely helpful. She makes me feel heard, understood, and comfortable. I appreciate her very much.”

Getting to know Karla Edwards

Hello, I am Karla Edwards, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I have 19 years of experience working with diverse populations using CBT and other methods to help clients feel their best. My approach I believe in setting clear goals because they help identify progress in therapy. My approach is based on each client's unique needs. I use mindfulness, CBT, and Solution-Focused techniques to help clients meet their therapy goals. My focus My style and approach work best with individuals aged 18 to 65 who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger issues, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, or life transitions. My communication style My tone is calm and soft-spoken to create an environment where clients feel comfortable. I am a professional therapist who can add a little laughter at times because I believe humor is a valuable tool in therapy. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist when I realized I could have a career in a field where I help people. Growing up, my friends would always come to me with their problems, and I would try to help them get through them. Seeing clients grow and improve is why I do this every day. My goals for you Once I understand what you need, we can start collaborating on goal-setting. For me, setting goals in therapy is a way to keep us on track and focused on what we are working on together. My first session with you In our first session, we will spend time getting to know more about you and what brings you in. I will ask questions to better understand your situation. The first session is about establishing rapport and gathering information to guide our work moving forward.
