Getting to know Kassandra Boortz

Hi there, I'm Kassandra! Congratulations on taking the first step toward healing! I am passionate about bringing empowerment and insight to those who struggle to move forward. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University, and I have been helping others for over eight years. My journey has led me to work successfully with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety and depression. My approach to therapy is unbiased, client-centered, and collaborative. I truly value diversity and its impacts and utilize Gestalt and CBT therapy approaches, emphasizing self-compassion. I have advanced training in Domestic Violence and Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), focusing on domestic violence, abuse, and self-compassion. I welcome you to start this healing journey and empower you to move beyond your barriers. My ideal client is available to hear my professional counsel and willing to work on treatment goals. My communication in therapy consists of active listening. I am compassionate, empathetic, and eager to see healing. My journey to becoming a therapist began in college when I was interested in psychology. After I graduated, I became an academic coach and loved helping students. This led me to Loma Linda University—my dream school—where I found the Marriage and Family Therapy program. A traumatic event in my life sparked my interest in understanding why others behave the way they do and how healing can come from trauma. This led me to work with people who have anxiety, depression, trauma, and domestic violence. I also became certified as a Moral Reconation Therapist. My therapeutic goals include working on the treatment plan and regularly checking in to ensure goals are met. I begin with an initial assessment consisting of questions geared toward developing the treatment plan. From there, I check in with clients to see if they have made progress.
