I think you deserve to love yourself -- in your feelings, and with your actions. It's okay to have compassion for yourself. I'm a cringe 40 year old AuDHD-er who isn't afraid to be radically soft. We're here to get strong by getting un-tough. My approach My approach is eclectic talk therapy, with a Lived-Experience-Informed-Practice (LEIP) orientation, rooted in my experiences and the wisdom of autistic and ADHD communities and scholars. Attachment relationships and intergenerationally transmitted emotional wealth, emotional scarcity, gifts, and traumas are at the heart of how I understand human relational patterns. I'm not officially trained in ACT, but I like what I've read about the approach. I don't do true IFS parts work, but I love the book "No Bad Parts" by Dr. Richard Schwartz, and it has deeply informed how I understand the psyche. Our bodies do, in fact, keep the score, and my primary approaches to self-regulation are sensory and movement-based. OF COURSE, you can't think yourself calm when your body is in crisis mode. We'll work together to figure out what particular skills and approaches are calming for your particular body, mind, and history. My focus I LIVE to deconstruct people-pleasing and codependency alongside people who are either currently navigating the world as women or femmes, or who were socialized with the expectation of being a girl or woman in childhood. I love building positive disabled identity with people coming into new disabled identities, whether by changes in their circumstances or understanding. I am wholeheartedly trans-affirming. My communication style I'm frank, informal, and not afraid to say, "Hey, let's pause for a minute. Can we talk about what you just said?" I've spent enough useless therapy sessions in my life, fire-hosing 53 minutes of speech without processing to value interrupting to dig deeper over being conventionally polite. I am not beyond rudely butting in to ask you to be nicer to yourself, either.
