Psychotherapist
103 S Main St, 11, Livingston, MT
Patterns of feeling, relationship, memory, and imagination shape the course of our lives. We often meet these patterns not because we choose to, but because they appear in our suffering and our longings. Psychotherapy is an invitation to meet them, not as enemies to defeat, but as realities to understand. I work with adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction and recovery, personality disorders, relationship concerns, and questions of meaning. I also work with women as they move through life's transitions—career, partnership, parenthood, fertility, menopause. My work is grounded in psychoanalytic and Jungian psychology, while integrating contemporary approaches including mentalization-based treatment, interpersonal neurobiology, somatic therapies, and mindfulness practices. I believe growth begins when what was once unformulated or unthinkable becomes available to reflection. As the mind becomes more capable of knowing itself, greater freedom can emerge. If you’re looking for a therapist who values careful thought, genuine curiosity, and the transformative potential of understanding your inner life, I would be honored to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Psychoanalytic therapy Patterns of feeling, relationship, memory, and imagination shape the course of our lives. Often these patterns are established early in development and operate below the threshold of conscious awareness. Identity and behavior are thus informed by unconscious processes that tend to repeat themselves until they are worked through or become available to reflection. Psychoanalytic therapy promotes the emergence of these patterns within the safety of a therapeutic relationship. This work can provide greater freedom and long-term change by working with unconscious patterns as they arise and are transformed in therapy. Jungian therapy Jungian therapy is a style of psychoanalysis and depth psychology that works with the creative unconscious. You may be suited for this if you are compelled by dreams, symbolism, archetypes, imagination, art, dance, music, mythology, or fairy tales. It is based on Jung’s understanding that the psyche wants to grow and seeks its own transformation through conscious engagement with inner life. Together we will explore the intuitive and generative healing capacities of the creative unconscious. Developmental trauma and personality disorders People are not born with personality disorders. Personality develops through our earliest emotional, psychological, and physical relationships. Our capacity to regulate emotion, develop a stable sense of self, trust others, and navigate intimacy emerges over time within the context of attachment. When development is disrupted by trauma, neglect, or chronic relational stress, these adaptations can develop into enduring patterns of emotional suffering and relationship difficulties.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Katherine's psychoanalytic training means sessions move at the pace of real insight. Rather than working only from worksheets or scripts, she helps you notice what's happening beneath the surface in your history, your relationships, and even in the therapy room itself so change goes deeper and lasts longer
