I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CACREP-accredited Felician University. I also earned a Master of Science in Environmental Management from Montclair State University.
As a Licensed Associate Counselor, I have extensive experience working with a wide range of diverse clientele from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. I have worked in clinical outpatient settings, MICA (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) Outpatient Programs, APH (Acute Patient Hospitalization), and Adult Residential Extended Long-Term Care, providing individual therapy, group therapy, and educational treatment.
Therapeutic Approach:
I believe it is important to take the time to talk with the client so I can better understand where they are currently at and what they are experiencing. I want to create a custom mental health plan to provide the best possible care and help the client develop understanding and skills to better cope with their condition. I believe exceptional mental health care is obtained when there is an ongoing relationship between myself and the client. My goal is to be the client’s partner in improving their mental health.
The therapeutic approaches that I utilize include Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Informed, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psycho-Educational, Culturally Sensitive, Solution-Focused, Feminist, Interpersonal, Narrative Therapy, Intervention, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Multicultural, and Positive Psychology.

I had a very unpleasant visit with this therapist. Even thinking about it makes me feel uncomfortable and I do not want others to have to feel the way I did.
The first appointment went just fine so I was looking forward to the following sessions.. unfortunately to my surprise the very next session this therapist went on and on about what they assumed about my life. I felt so offended and unheard as this was only the second session and they took it upon themselves to feel like they knew more about my life than I do - a situation I have never come across in therapy. I have been to therapy with two separate therapists and I do not resonate with the way Kathleen approached our sessions.
When I tried to explain this rupture her response was not welcoming, understanding nor empathetic. I'm not sure how beneficial this type of work can be for others, but I certainly did not enjoy this experience. And to top it off she double charged my insurance company after that session. I will not be returning.
