Kathryn Beddow, LMSW
Kathryn Beddow is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Virginia who has been practicing since 2020. She holds two Bachelor's degrees (Psychology and Justice and Law Administration) and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of South Dakota. It took time for her to earn each of these, and she did not do them the easy way by any means. She has taken her own path in both academic and real-life education.
Kathryn is a Veteran and Army spouse with a passion for helping others. She has worked in the mental health field since 2014 in multiple settings across several states. She is an ally to all, seeing people for who they are and where they are. Kathryn works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, substance use, grief, relational challenges, life transitions, and more. She is person-centered (PCP), while drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Kathryn has worked with a variety of populations, led projects, organized events for nonprofit organizations, and created environments where colleagues can grow and thrive. She enjoys being active in the community, collaborating with individuals and organizations, and witnessing the impact small acts can have on others.
In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys hiking, writing, baking (anything but brownies because she always burns them), talking to her plants, painting, playing tourist/exploring, and spending time with family and friends. Kathryn is an extroverted introvert who can “people” regularly while ensuring she has space to recharge. She is a happy, pleasant, sarcastic, and mostly positive person. Her life is filled with military acronyms, laughter, chasing kids, writing, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.
Kathryn is currently a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work.
