Getting to know Kathy Valencia

Hi there, I'm Kathy! "Little by little, a little becomes a lot" – unknown. Making the decision to come to therapy is the first step in beginning your personal journey. As your therapist, I am passionate about assisting you in addressing your needs and overcoming the barriers you face. I love integrating different interventions to best meet your needs. I believe in tailoring each session to each person, whether you are struggling through a new life transition, working through painful experiences, or attempting to regain your life from symptoms of depression and anxiety. My hope is that our sessions together will bring insight, stability, and peace within your relationships and life. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support you effectively. My approach Sessions with me are person-centered. This is your time, open to discussing everything on your mind. It is important to me that you feel safe enough to be vulnerable and honest throughout treatment. I do my best to be easily accessible to all my clients and provide flexibility throughout treatment to ensure effective communication and consistency. Some of the therapeutic modalities I use include cognitive-behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral interventions for substance abuse, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and art therapies. My focus My ideal client is someone who is open to change despite hesitation, willing to be honest, and ready to implement skills learned throughout the sessions. My communication style As your therapist, maintaining an open line of communication is very important to me. I am always calm and direct with my clients. It is essential that you feel safe enough with me to be vulnerable. With this being said, I am always open to feedback throughout treatment.
