Psychotherapist
2054 Vista Pkwy, Suite 400, West Palm Beach, FL
I’m Katie Stafford, a licensed clinical social worker and founder of Stafford Counseling & Consulting. I work with women in executive leadership who are navigating the pressure to perform, lead, and remain composed while also caring for their emotional needs, relationships, and well-being. My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, and IFS-informed approaches, tailoring our work to your needs and preferences. Faith integration is available when desired. Together, we’ll explore the expectations you carry and how patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, and overthinking affect your life. We’ll work toward practical changes that help you manage anxiety, communicate your needs, set boundaries, and reconnect with what matters to you. You deserve care even when you’re capable of carrying a great deal. I offer virtual therapy in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, creating space for you to lead without sacrificing your humanity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted from always being responsible, the helper, the fixer, or the person everyone depends on. They are often successful on the outside but overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected on the inside. When working with me, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you don't have to have all the answers. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. I'll help you explore patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop practical tools that you can apply in your everyday life. I am direct when needed, supportive throughout the process, and committed to helping you create meaningful change, not just temporary relief.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and identifying your goals for therapy. We'll explore what's bringing you in, what you've already tried, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. From there, we'll create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and strengths. Sessions often include identifying patterns, developing coping strategies, processing emotions, improving relationships, and building skills that support long-term well-being. Therapy is not about "fixing" you, it's about helping you better understand yourself, break free from patterns that are no longer serving you, and move toward the life you want to create. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust our work as your needs evolve.
