Getting to know Katrina Bassett

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in mental health and trauma, I provide compassionate, client-centered care. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. I believe healing is a holistic process that addresses both mind and body. Working collaboratively with clients, I create a safe space to explore experiences and heal from past wounds.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am committed to building a strong therapeutic relationship, guiding you through challenges like trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions in a warm, non-judgmental environment to help you thrive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and learn more about my practice. I believe the best place to start is with an initial consultation. During our first session, I focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, learning about your history, and identifying the goals you hope to achieve. Together, we will discuss your current concerns, strengths, and any challenges that may be affecting your well-being. From there, sessions are tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your goals, our work may involve exploring patterns of thinking and behavior, developing practical coping skills, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, or increasing self-awareness. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sand Tray Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While I accommodate individuals who prefer virtual sessions, I believe that exclusively virtual working relationships can sometimes be more vulnerable to misunderstandings. For this reason, I encourage open communication and to reach out to me directly whenever concerns arise so we can address them together. I also maintain an in-person office and enjoy being able to offer face-to-face sessions on Fridays. Many individuals report experiencing some relief within the first few sessions as they begin engaging in treatment and developing new tools for managing distress. At the same time, I believe finding the right therapeutic fit is important. If you are not noticing meaningful progress after several weeks of consistent work together, I encourage you to explore other options and consult with additional providers. My priority is helping you find the support that best meets your needs. Whether that is with me or another provider
