Getting to know Keesha Clark

I am a licensed therapist and founder of BEL Counseling Services, specializing in supporting women, particularly Black women and mothers, who are navigating anxiety, trauma, and the emotional weight of constantly being in survival mode. My work is rooted in helping high-functioning women who appear “fine” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted internally. I offer a culturally responsive, depth-oriented approach that goes beyond surface-level coping strategies to address the underlying patterns impacting your nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy with me is a space where you can slow down, be fully seen, and begin to heal in a way that feels sustainable and aligned. My goal is not just symptom relief, but meaningful, lasting change—so you can move through life feeling more grounded, regulated, and in control Who I’m a Good Fit For I work best with women and mothers who: Are experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, or unresolved trauma Feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or “stuck” despite functioning well in daily life Are ready to explore deeper healing—not just symptom management Are open to trauma-informed, somatic, and body-based approaches (including EMDR) Are seeking a culturally-responsive, affirming space for growth and healing Can commit to consistent sessions and the therapeutic process .. Who May Not Be the Best Fit My practice may not be appropriate for individuals who: Are seeking therapy primarily for court-ordered treatment, evaluations, or documentation Are in immediate crisis or need urgent/emergency mental health services Are looking for brief, solution-focused therapy only (without deeper processing) Prefer a purely advice-giving or directive approach to therapy Are outside of my specialties (including concerns I do not currently treat) Appointments may be declined or rescheduled if your needs are outside the scope of services offered by this practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is an intentional and collaborative process. I am not a “nod and listen only” therapist. I will gently challenge you, offer insight, and guide you toward deeper awareness and change. Our work together will focus on helping you understand your emotional patterns, regulate your nervous system, and build tools that actually work in your real life. I also prioritize creating a space that feels safe, culturally affirming, and non-performative, especially for women who are used to being “the strong one” for everyone else. Clients who tend to benefit most from working with me are those who are ready to move beyond just talking about their experiences and are open to actively engaging in the healing process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with an initial consultation or intake session where I take time to understand your current challenges, history, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. From there, we collaboratively identify goals and create a direction for our work together. In ongoing sessions, I integrate evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches with a strong focus on nervous system regulation. This may include exploring past experiences, identifying current triggers and patterns, and practicing real-time tools to help you feel more grounded and in control. As we progress, our work evolves from increasing awareness to building consistency and confidence in how you respond to stress, relationships, and daily life. The goal is for you to not only feel better in sessions, but to experience meaningful shifts in how you show up in your life.
