Getting to know Kelley Zabelovsky

Hi there, I'm Kelley! I am a collaborative therapist, and I focus on helping you change your life. We will identify core negative beliefs keeping you stuck, build coping skills, and practice self-care. I am highly trained in several trauma modalities and anxiety disorders. My focus I work well with clients who are going through a life transition, creating a spike in anxiety and/or depressive symptoms. I am great at psychoeducating clients on the effects of early childhood trauma on relationship patterns and attachment styles. My approach I love humanistic psychology and Internal Family Systems for trauma work. I use cognitive behavioral approaches, motivational interviewing, and the neuroaffective relational model. My communication style I have a conversational style that is natural, comfortable, and down-to-earth. I use Socratic questioning and help clients connect feelings to the sensations in the body to help identify needs for boundaries in their lives. My journey to mental healthcare I was always curious about human behavior and felt compassion for my family struggling with mental health issues. I became curious about various types of spirituality and studied them in college. My goals for you I always start therapy with 'what do you want to get out of our work together?' I monitor closely every few weeks to determine if the client feels like they are improving in the area they are wanting to. I notice with curiosity what is not working in a client's life and inquire if they are ready to set a goal. Our first session We will talk a little about any previous therapist relationships they have had and what went well and not so well. I complete an assessment including family relationships, any history of suicidality or hospitalization, and inquire if the client is taking meds.
