Psychotherapist
7021 Kewanee Ave, Lubbock, TX
Hello! I'm glad you found your way to my page. As a licensed therapist in Lubbock, Texas, I get to meet people from all walks of life and all stages of healing. I see healing from mental health problems like anxiety, depression and coping with neurodivergence from a big-picture perspective. This point of view stems from my own neurodivergence as an ADHD-er myself, and also from my training as a clinical social worker. Social workers are trained to see folks and their challenges in the context of their past and present environments and relationships. What that means for you as a client is that we'll take a look at all angles of your life to help you feel more understood and understanding of yourself, and equipped with the tools and insights you need to move forward. Therapy in Lubbock or online in Texas with me can often start as soon as the same week. I hope you'll peruse the information below and reach out here on Zocdoc so we can get started with a free intro call or jump into an intake appointment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I love working with my clients to explore why their brains do what they do. I lead with acceptance and follow with some humor and a deep understanding of the ways therapy can help people heal. I help people with anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ experiences, neurodivergence, family and health stress, and other experiences. I strive to acknowledge the intersection of social justice and mental health in my work. I also offer mental health evaluations for immigration cases for any age and gender affirming care letters for adults. I participate in ongoing learning to keep my skills sharp. I have training in EMDR, attachment-based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, and aim to remain culturally humble by continuing to learn about practice with minority groups. I often explore how someone's upbringing taught them things they want to keep and things they want to leave behind. When relevant, I address any missed diagnoses or issues that would be helpful to identify.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer free 15-minute intro calls, or we can jump into a 1-hour intake appointment. During that intro call, you can expect to get to know me a bit and for me to ask some questions to ensure it seems we would be a good fit to work together. If for any reason it seems we would not, I offer to help folks find the resources they need. Intake appointments often are more question-and-answer style than follow-up appointments, but I am typically a less manualized/structured therapist and go where the client feels is important during the intake while ensuring we do discuss privacy, logistics and their goals. Follow-up appointments are tailored to clients' needs while also making sure we touch on the core reasons for their being in therapy. Folks usually meet weekly or biweekly when starting out.
