Kelly Keller, LMSW

Kelly Keller, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I believe that having someone who genuinely listens, takes the time to understand you, and meets you without judgment can make a real difference. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity about who you are, what you've experienced, and what matters most to you. I want our sessions to feel like a place where you can be honest about what you're going through, even when you're not quite sure how to put it into words. I work with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and other emotional challenges. My approach is person-centered and trauma-responsive, meaning that I pay attention to your individual experiences, needs, and pace rather than assuming there's one way to approach therapy. My background working with children and families has also shaped how I understand the influence of early experiences, family relationships, and the environments we grow up in. I bring that perspective into our work as we explore how past experiences may be connected to what you're feeling or struggling with today. I see therapy as a partnership. Some sessions may involve making sense of difficult experiences or recognizing patterns in your relationships, while others may focus on finding practical ways to manage what you're facing right now. We'll work together to figure out what feels helpful and what you want to change, while also recognizing the strengths and resources you already bring with you. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more confident navigating challenges, and make changes that feel meaningful to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in creating a trusting, collaborative relationship. With specialized training and a certificate in trauma-informed care, I recognize how trauma can shape our emotions, relationships, and everyday experiences. I tailor our work to your individual needs and pace, helping you process difficult experiences, better understand yourself, and develop tools to move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Trauma is central to my clinical work, and I have particular interests in grief and loss, parenting, and the emotional challenges that come with caring for others. I understand how difficult it can be to balance your own needs while supporting a child, family member, or loved one, especially when navigating complex needs or unexpected life changes. Together, we can explore these experiences, make space for difficult emotions, and find ways to feel more supported and confident in your relationships and responsibilities.
