Hi. My name is Kenya Kidder. I integrate CBT, EMDR, Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing strategies in a person centered approach to treat stress, anxiety, depression and trauma. I strive to help clients change behaviors and distorted thought patterns. Engaging in therapy is a big decision, so, I strive to provide a safe, supportive, trauma informed space for my clients. I believe in taking a collaborative approach when developing personalized treatment goals. You are your own expert. I am here to help clients learn to better cope with stress, problem solve, and develop healthy thought patterns. When needed I am here to help clients process difficult memories and emotions to improve overall functioning in a multitude of life areas. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University-Chicago and my Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University. For 12 years I worked at a Community Mental Health Center where I provided individual and group therapy to adults on an outpatient basis, along with crisis management. For 6 of those years I also provided clinical supervision to a team of social workers and mental health counselors. I was trained in CBT at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, PA. My EMDR training was completed with EMDR Consulting. I love to learn so I have attended countless trainings over the years and continue to attend to keep up to date on the most effective clinical strategies. I consider myself a down to earth person who has a passion for helping others. In my spare time I like to read, bake, travel, binge Netflix shows and spend time with my family. I left my job at my local community mental health center in 2023 to have a more flexible schedule. Currently, I work as a high school social worker. I also volunteer at a local grief center. Right now, I am only offering virtual sessions. Please schedule an appointment to see if we’re a good fit.
